Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is an organic sulfur formation. The main task of MSM is its participation in the composition of the organism, primarily with various amino acids. MSM is therefore important for the formation of all amino acid-based protein compounds and enzymes in the body (doi: 10.1016 / j.joca.2008.03.002). In addition, MSM makes the cell membranes for the absorption of nutrients and vital substances more permeable and flexible, and it also simplifies the elimination of harmful substances.

Contrary to the conventional assumption, science has established that osteoarthritis is not a result of aging but is due to inflammatory reactions in the affected area (2016, PMID: 26812612). There is currently no corresponding therapeutic approach in medicine for such diseases, which is why pain therapies are often used. Research has been going on into the effects of MSM for several years. In a double-blind study, an actual physiological improvement was found by adding 6g MSM per day (2006, PMID: 16309928).
Effects in the field of anti-inflammatory effects:
Injuries to the gastric mucosa (2017, PMID: 28666801). Inhibition of inflammatory factors (2009, PMID: 19336900). Improved treatment of prostatitis can also be supported by MSM.
Regarding the maintenance of the health of the joint cartilage, MSM provides the sulfur required for the formation of the connective tissue protein collagen. Sulfur has a regenerative effect on damaged cartilage tissue. It has also been found that the sulfur concentration in joints damaged by osteoarthritis is about two-thirds lower than in healthy ones. MSM is joint-friendly even with connective tissue containing collagen.
